Fine Dining in Bangor, Maine

The year was 1884. With 100 signatures and proper documentation, 31 Bangor citizens established the exclusive Tarratine Club. Among the founding members was former U.S. Vice President and the club’s first president, Hannibal Hamlin.

Comprised of an elite group of local businessmen, the Tarratine Club served as a social gathering place where members could connect, foster business growth, and support the advancement of social services within the Bangor community.

In 1907, the club moved into its newly constructed home at 81 Park Street. The elegant building quickly became a centerpiece of Bangor society. Members gathered across three beautiful floors to dine, socialize, and enjoy the club’s many amenities, including catered meals, fully stocked bars, and games of pool and cards — all set against stunning views of the city.

The Tarratine Club remained active in this historic location until the building was sold in 1991.

Today, thanks to the vision and dedication of Bob and Tricia Quirk, the beautiful building at 81 Park Street has been brought back to life.

Now operating as The Tarratine, the space welcomes the public as a full-service restaurant and event venue, honoring the rich history of Bangor while creating a place for new memories to be made.

We invite you to dine, celebrate, and gather in the historic home of the Tarratine Club.
